Guideline on Price Setting

For pricing guidelines, I suggest to consider the following:

1) If item is new with tag AND in NEW EXCELLENT CONDITION and current STYLE, price within 75%-85% of the original ticket price. If you have a really unusual item or over the top GORGEOUS item, the price may go a little more.
2) If item is new without tag AND in NEW EXCELLENT CONDITION and STYLE, price slightly lower than situation in #1.
3) If item is gently used, but still  in current style, price between 25% and 50% of original new price.
4) If item has snags or otherwise less than good condition (even if new with tags), price as #5 below.
5) If item is stained or flawed, categorize in "Play Dress Up" and price low accordingly ($5 - $10).

RULEs of THUMB:
1) Styles of formal wear and accessories change rapidly, so be careful about overpricing.
2) If your item has been used only once or twice and is still in relatively new condition and style, price within 50%-80%.
3) If your item is showing some wear, price accordingly between 25%-50%.
4) If an item is an item that you would want to purchase, then chances are that someone else would.

You ultimately have three choices when considering pricing:
1) If in doubt, you can choose to price toward the higher range but also mark it to be discounted when sale begins.
2) You can price it fairly average to begin with and not mark item to be discounted.
3) A general rule to follow is to not overprice unless you absolutely HAVE to get a certain amount for your item.

Remember, you can transfer any unsold items to the next cycle and sale event and rethink the pricing at that time.

Ultimately, as the consignor/owner of the item, you must make the final pricing decision.
